Wedding Wednesday... Our New Site is up!

TRUE event

This is one of those projects you set out to do that you know is probably one of the most important tools a business owner can have in showcasing their work in this industry, but it is also one of those things that takes forever!  Days turn into weeks, that turn into months, which almost turned into a year!  I know it is embarrassing to admit it could possibly take that long to build a website (and it was not by any means as a result of the incredibly talented Alex and Ashley at (a)squared studio) it was the content part that we labored over, we wanted it to be perfect and there was just so much goodness to update and cram into a few pages.  And then we rolled into wedding season and unfortunately our project got pushed to the side as we rolled into one of our best seasons of events, that have definitely been keeping us busy.  So you can imagine the smile on my face when I received an email from Ashley this afternoon telling me our shiny new site was up and running, I think I may actually have let out a little scream with so much excitement, when I clicked on the link.

I can't wait to hear what you all think as you click through the site.  We are so grateful to all of the amazing clients we had the opportunity to work with over the last couple of years and uber talented vendors that have help to provide us with such gorgeous content to include in the gallery section.  Hopefully you will continue to follow us and update your readers with our new blog info as we make the big leap over to Wordpress.

Friday Wine Tasting... A Special Anniversary and Wedding Weekend!

Happy 1 yr. Anniversary, Abby & Andrew!!

Photos by Leila Brewster Photography, Abby & Andrew!
Photo by Christina B. Ward, Mary & Dave!

I can hardly believe that this weekend marks the one year anniversary of an incredibly special couple that got married a year ago at the Ocean House, Mr & Mrs. C!  And will become the new anniversary for a dear family friend that has been like a sister my whole life, with our moms best friends since high school!  I feel so honored to be a part of their special day, as Mary & Dave say "I do" on Saturday.  Both Abby and Mary are two of the most genuine, caring, dedicated, loving, full of life, people I know and found partners that compliment them perfectly.  They are the type of people that will make you smile just because and laugh so hard that it hurts.  Thinking of you both this weekend and toasting to two very special couples, full of so much love!

Wine of the Week...
Mumm Napa Brut Rose
$19.99

Tasting Notes
The color is pale peach, with plenty of strong bubbles. The nose has a light touch of apple, along with strawberry and fresh cherries, with a faint smell of baking bread. It tastes of both raspberries and pink lemonade, a nice sweet and tart sensation.  The mid-palate brings creamy strawberry, lemon and a touch crusty bread. There is a good deal of acidity and the acidity helps the citrus finish last and last.

Wedding Wednesday... New England Penthouse Wedding

On a perfect warm summer night a few weeks ago we worked with one of the sweetest couples to coordinate a weekend of events with their closest family and friends at the Ocean House in Rhode Island.  Starting with a clambake on the beach Friday night, ceremony and reception the following day in the Penthouse Suite, and Brunch on the main level, in Seasons Restaurant.  Inspired by the colors of the water and coastal design of the penthouse suite we used a palette of blue, green and white to create subtle accents on the spectacular deck that stretches across the top of the most magnificent yellow house in Watch Hill.

For the bride, she dreamed of carrying red roses, which set the tone for a ceremony full of love, as guests circled around the couple in a very intimate ceremony.  Guests mingled, and grazed across a variety of stations that were executed to perfection by the culinary crew at the Ocean House and listened to the sweet sounds of Bon Musique and were carried away by the amazing voice of their lead singer, Cody.

Coffee Talk Monday... Alex & Ani

I have recently fallen in love with Alex & Ani bracelets and for all of you that don't know about them yet I am quite certain you will too!!  I have never been a charm bracelet kind of girl but these are just so fabulous!!  I love that you can have a simple wired bangle or one that has a charm, and stack them all up your arm.  They are all made out of recycled materials/metal and a few charms that were designed in honor of specific causes or charities.

I was searching and searching for sister for a special gift for her 30th birthday last month and couldn't help but think this was the perfect gift, it even had a ruby charm on the set I got her.  I can't wait to start a collection of my own, there are so many that I want!  They would also make the perfect bridesmaid gift!
Some of my favorites...

Friday Wine Tasting... Edna Valley Pinot Noir

Wine of the Week
Edna Valley Pinot Noir
For all of the Pinot fans out there this is one you will want to try.  I received this bottle as a gift for my birthday a few months back and was saving it to enjoy at the perfect moment.  With our schedules lately finding time to sit down, relax and really enjoy a glass of wine without interruption has been a rare occasion.  So on the perfect summer night, computer shut down, husband home from Boston, we found one of those moments and both agree this is a yummy Pinot!

winemaker's notes:
Fragrant, floral and redolent with black-cherry fruit, the Pinot Noir exhibits the delicacy and allure of this captivating varietal. Hints of rose petal, caramel and forest floor weave through the jammy fruit core. The mid-palate is pleasant and smooth with fine tannins. Subtle cola and perfume nuances alight the finish for lingering enjoyment of this pretty red wine. Enjoy with gamey flavors such as duck, venison or wild mushroom pasta.

Inspiration from Anywhere...Navy & Gold

An August wedding is just one-of-a-kind.  Slotted between the two most romantic seasons, a navy and gold palette would capture the mood of a late summer wedding just beautifully.

Wedding Wednesday...Meghan and Ben

On a gorgeous June day at the Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich, Meghan and Ben wed in a beautiful tented ceremony followed by a gorgeous green and white reception that we felt so lucky to be a part of!  At the ceremony, their gorgeous chuppah interwoven with  fluffy white blooms was the perfect backdrop for their "I do's."  During the reception, white calligraphy popped off of the apple green escort cards, a decadent raw bar overflowed with fresh seafood, martinis were made to order off of a chiseled ice sculpture that was truly a piece of art, and towering green and white centerpieces at every perfectly set table were just a few of the breath-taking details.  The sense of family and unity between this couple and their loved ones reminded us of why we feel so lucky to do what we do.  Meghan and Ben we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Tuesday Shoesday... Yellow Flats

via Shoes.com
As much as I love heels and people that know me know that it isn't very often that I leave the house in flats, unless I am going for a run, to the beach in a pair of flip flops or at the end of a long event.  But lately I have been craving the comfort of a really adorable pair of flats that can be my go to pair.  I couldn't help but fall in love with this pair I found online.  Not only are they yellow but they have a sock liner for extra comfort and come with their very own little bag so that on a night out you could carry them with you.  These would be great at the end of your wedding night when dancing is a priority and your heels are ready to come off.  I have a feeling you can dance for hours in these.  I can think of one September bride that these are perfect for!

Inspiration from Anywhere...Summer Showers

The heat wave that has been taking over New England broke last night with a summer shower that we were oh so thankful for.  And you know what they say: if you want a rainbow... Speaking of sprinkles, we love to see brides who make the most of their rain-blessed wedding days by pairing their gorgeous gowns with a fun pair of wellies.  Here's to summer showers!

Wedding Wednesday... A Summer Rooftop Soiree in NYC

Photos by Carlos Varela, Cava Weddings
Recently I was invited to a summer rooftop party in NYC with some of the most talented people in the industry.  It was an intimate dinner party amongst friends and colleagues hosted by Frank Alexander, one of the most inspiring, passionate designers I have ever met.  His work always pushes me to want to be better and he is the kind of person you meet once and hope that you will get the opportunity to cross paths with again.  It was such a treat to be a guest at such a special event in the city, when usually I am the one orchestrating the details, it was fun to be able to sit back and enjoy a truly memorable, absolutely perfect evening, on one of the nicest nights we have had this summer.

The table that Frank and his team created was full of color and detail and really set the tone for an incredible affair.  I would love to see this table design recreated for a rehearsal dinner, brunch or intimate dinner party.  The color palette is perfection!

Tuesday Shoesday...You're Golden

These darlingm sparkly gold flats caught our eye on Style Me Pretty last week.  The pop of glitz and glamour was so perfect against the bride's lace gown!

Inspiration from Anywhere...Barefoot Bride

Instead of your typical blue, beige, and white palette for a beach wedding, I love the idea of a dusty teal, rose and blush color story.  So soft and romantic against the white waves, don't you think?

Wedding Wednesday...Laura & Kevin in Madison, CT

Laura and Kevin wed at an incredible private residence in picturesque Madison, CT on the most stunning day we saw in June.  From the picture-perfect white century tent, to the gorgeous horses, and vintage touches like those antique bottle escort cards, Laura and Kevin's day was so full of rustic charm and easy elegance.  Don't you love the soft dimension in their yellow and blue color palette?  Exquisite.

Tuesday Shoesday.... Mocs and thoughts of Fall

Via Piperlime
I have always loved the comfort of mocs and have had a few pairs over the years but I am obsessed with this grey pair for fall!  They are the perfect transition shoe from sandals to suede. And I love the grey!  Not that I even want to think about fall but these are going on my must have list.

Coffee Talk Monday... Newly Maid

Have you ever wondered what to do with your bridesmaid dress after being in a wedding?  I know I still have a collection of dresses in my closet that have only been worn once but cost a good amount of money.  Thank God the trend for bridesmaid dresses has shifted to brides looking for something that their bridal party can re-wear after the wedding. J.Crew, Jenny Yoo, and Thread are doing an incredible job of doing just that, there are so many dresses in their collections I am dying to own!  This weekend was a perfect example of a line of dresses that I just adore.  I couldn't get enough of the gorgeous detail on every one of the dresses selected by Emily for her bridesmaids.  The girls looked stunning in all different dresses from the Thread collection in a gorgeous cobalt blue.

But for those of you out there that haven't been as lucky and have a collection of dresses in your closet, like I do, that I will never wear again, you must check out this site Newly Maid.  It is brilliant!  You simply mail in your old dress and receive a little black dress in return.  The dresses you send in are either recycled or donated to organizations around the globe for people less fortunate.  Click here to learn more about how it all works.

I love the blog world because I am continuously inspired by different people's sites and never get bored with the content because there is always a new site to stumble upon.  This morning while browsing through my friends' site over at Styled Creative I came across one of her favorite daily reads, Because I'm Addicted, and I must admit that it is easy to become addicted to. It is filled with fashion, fun cocktails and recipe ideas. I have been obsessed with watermelon lately and want to have it in everything including this perfect summer drink recipe that I found on their blog.  YUMMM!!!

Inspiration From Anywhere...Ice Cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream at weddings! I mean, don't we?!  I love the idea of sidling up alongside a gorgeous dessert table and discovering a mouth-watering array of sundae toppings, shimmery cones, and fluffy scoops!  I can taste my favorite combination {vanilla soft serve, chocolate sprinkles, and strawberries}, right now!  What's your flavor-ite?

Inspiration from Anywhere...Sparklers

Sparklers are like fireworks in your hand.  The opportunity to hold something so simultaneously wonderous and precarious is always such a unique experience, that I'm so glad to see they've come out of hiding after the Fourth of July and into weddings, too!  Will you be celebrating with these real-life glowsticks this weekend?

Tuesday Shoesday... Fourth of July

I'm with Abby over in the Superburbs, the count down is on until the Fourth of July.  This is the first Fourth of July that I will be off in 5 years and I couldn't be more thrilled.  It is absolutely one of the best holidays and a real excuse to celebrate summer.  We are packing up our bags and heading to the Cape.  Growing up we used to go every summer with my family but I haven't been in years so it is going to be a real treat.  I am looking forward to long runs near the water, short naps in the sun, lots of magazine reading, and some down time to just be.  So in honor of the Fourth of July, my love of summer and vacationing on the Cape I thought these shoes were the perfect accessory to include in my bag.
